DESCRIPTION:World Shorebirds Day at Hornsby Bend with Travis and Bexar Audubon\n\n\n7:30 AM – 10:30 AM \nCelebrate World Shorebirds Day at Hornsby Bend\, Austin’s premier birding site and excellent location to view long-distance shorebird migrants. Although peak shorebird migration will have passed\, there may be some surprises that drop in. Past early-September records include Ruddy Turnstone\, Black–bellied Plover and Red Knot. \nThis field trip is a partnership between Travis and Bexar Audubon. Meet fellow birders and explore new birding spots! \nThis trip is free\, but limited to 12 spots per Audubon chapter. SUMMARY:Outing to Mitchell Lake for Inland Shorebirds Webinar Follow-up
DESCRIPTION:BAS Vice President Patsy Inglet will lead this webinar to help you learn about 14 species of shorebirds that can be found in Central Texas. Why focus on shorebirds so far from the coastal shore? Because not every bird found at the shore is a shorebird\, and not every shorebird is found at the coastal shore. Many shorebirds migrate right through the middle of North America in the Central Flyway and stop over on the shores of rivers\, lakes\, ponds\, and other wetlands as they make their way on their migration; some stay to breed. \nAfter this webinar and the field trip to the wetlands at Mitchell Lake Audubon Center on Saturday\, September 10 from 8 to 10 AM\, you will be better able to identify Central Texas shorebirds and appreciate the marathon journeys these birds make every year. \nRegister and pay ($5) for the Wednesday\, September 7th Webinar HERE\nYou will receive a link to join the webinar after you’ve registered. \nSign up for the Saturday\, September 10th outing to Mitchell Lake HERE\nThe outing will take place from 8:00 to 10:00 AM.
